‘CELESTE’ competes in the International Panorama section, where the first three episodes screened with the presence of series creator, Diego San José, executive producer Alejandro Flórez and actor Clara Sans
The series will have a second season in Movistar Plus+
CELESTE, the Movistar Plus+ original series co-produced by 100 Balas (THE MEDIAPRO STUDIO), created by Diego San José and starring Carmen Machi, premiered internationally on saturday in the French city of Lille to widespread critical and public acclaim. The series is competing in the “International Panorama” section at this year’s edition of Series Mania, the prestigious European co-production event for fiction series, where the first three episodes were screened. The event took place at the UGC Ciné-Cité in Lille and concluded with a Q&A attended by the series creator, Diego San José and actor Clara Sans.
Also in attendance at the international premiere in Series Mania was Alejandro Florez, executive producer of ‘Celeste’ on behalf of 100 Balas (THE MEDIAPRO STUDIO) and Laura Fernández Espeso, Javier Mendez and Diego San José also executive produce, with Fran Araújo as executive producer for Movistar Plus+.
CELESTE was selected along with nine other productions from the United Kingdom, Iran, Iceland, Sweden, Brazil, South Korea and Norway, all of which are in the running for Best Series, Best Director, Best Actress and Best Actor awards to be decided by a jury chaired by novelist Lola Lafon.
The first three episodes of ‘Celeste’ will continue to be screened in the French city throughout the event, both at the UGC Ciné-Cité (today at 11:15 a.m.) and Le Majestic (on Thursday 27 at 3:00 p.m.).
Extraordinary reception by public and critics
‘CELESTE’ premiered at this year’s San Sebastian Festival at the Velodrome and received an excellent reception from the public, as well as in the Official National Section of Serielizados Fest in Barcelona, where Diego San José won the Best Screenplay award, followed by The Feroz Award for Best Comedy Series in addition to that bestowed in the same category at the Almería International Film Festival (FICAL), and where Carmen Machi also won Best Actress for her interpretation of Sara Santano, going on to win the Best Television Actress award at the Fotogramas de Plata Awards held in late February.
