QUIET is based on a true story set in lockdown-era Barcelona
Following its recent broadcast on TV3 and streaming platform 3Cat, the eight-part series led prime time ratings in Catalonia with an average 14.9% share and a total audience of 1.3 million viewers
Co-produced by THE MEDIAPRO STUDIO and 3Cat, the gripping thriller QUIET will premiere on Disney+ on May 30, with all eight episodes launching simultaneosuly.
Laura Fernandez Espeso, Javier Méndez and Bernat Elías serve as executive producers for THE MEDIAPRO STUDIO while Oriol Sala-Patau and Conxa Orea lead executive production for 3Cat.
The series stars David Verdaguer (winner of two Goya Awards for Jokes & Cigarettes and Summer 1993)and Ángela Cervantes (twice-Goya nominated for Motherhood and Chavalas and Best Actress winner at the Malaga Film Festival for The Fury).
The cast also features Alex Brendemühl (Goya nominee for Creatura) and Melina Matthews (Iron Reign) alongside rising stars Roger Guitart and Victoria Kantch. Marta Pahissa (Rapa, Ser o no Ser) directs all eight episodes.
The series was created by Lluís Arcarazo (Salvador (Puig Antich), Nit i dia), who also serves as lead writer. He is joined by co-writers Guillermo Cisneros and Maria Jaén.
QUIET is inspired by a true story. In late April 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 lockdown, authorities arrested a man accused of murdering several homeless people on the streets of Barcelona. The crimes followed the same chilling pattern: all victims were attacked while sleeping, with extreme brutality. Set against the eerie backdrop of an empty, quarantined city, Arcarazo uses the narrative to explore the concept of “evil”—both as moral corruption and as a viral force spreading through its victims.
The story follows homicide detectives leading the investigation, their intimate personal lives, and the vulnerable individuals forced to survive on the streets of Barcelona, unable to escape any form of evil.
QUIET lands on Disney+ following a highly successful run in Catalonia. From its debut on TV3 and streaming platform 3Cat on March 24 through its final broadcast on May 5, the series dominated Monday night prime time, with an average audience share of 14.9%, peaking at 17.8% for the final episode. Across its run, it reached a cumulative audience of 1.3 million viewers.
The series was filmed on location throughout Barcelona, showcasing an urban portrait of the city unlike anything typically seen.
