Quiet
Based on a true story, the plot of ‘QUIET’ unfolds in late April of 2020, in the grip of the COVID-19 lockdown. The authorities arrest a man accused of murdering various homeless people, one after another, on the streets of Barcelona. The murders all follow the same modus operandi: all taking place while the victims are asleep and all involving extreme brutality. With this as the context, and against the backdrop of a desolate and locked down city, Arcarazo explores the idea of ‘mal’, which in Spanish can have meanings including both ‘evil’ and ‘a sickness’, such as a virus, that infects its victims. The homicide agents in charge of the investigation, those closest to them, and those who are forced to live on the streets of Barcelona with no way to flee any evil they encounter are the story’s main characters.
